Seasoned Pastor Mike Slaughter explores the question, "What is it about Christians that is so unappealing?" The author's writing and citations reveal influence from the likes of Martin Luther King, Jr., Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Mother Teresa, and N.T. Wright and C.S. Lewis.The terms "rebel Jesus" and "renegade gospel" and "revolution" are attempts to break Christians out of apathy and static routines that lack the radical nature of Jesus' call to new life. Clearly, the message here is aimed at Western Christians who have slogged into complacency in a secular culture and security in a lukewarm faith and Christian practice. Conversely, we see Christians around the world paying for the faith with their homes and lives.
