This book was a great help to us in creating a working, effective disaster recovery and response plan. It is a bit wordy, but the general focus of the book will set you on the right direction for creating business continuity.

If your goal is to buy a book with as many words as possible, this one is a winner. If you're looking for something that's easy to read, helpful, and guaranteed to teach you something, avoid this one.It should be required that anyone who is going to write a textbook reads "Made to Stick" by Chip and Dan Heath first.First, the book is wordy. It drones on and on. Some points it glosses over very briefly and others it repeats to the point of boredom. The content is continually repetitive (in case you didn't know by the 5th chapter, fire is the number 1 cause of disaster to companies).Second, the case studies (with the exception of the Financial one and a few pages of the SMB one) are useless. They are too high level and never get into any real tangible examples of use and implementation. Finally, it's inconsistent. In some sections the author goes into detail without providing any context (i.e. cloud computing) and in other areas it's "you'll need to define specifics for your business." Of course no book can cover the unique nuances of disaster recovery for every business, but maintain consistency with the level of detail and it would make for a much easier read.If this book was edited down to about 250 pages, provided more specific and concrete steps for each level, and included case studies that ONLY focused on real implementation details, it would work. In it's current format, it's a disaster in need of recovery.

Great book, really goes into details for an important part of all organizations.

Very highly recommended book
