I am rebuilding a foreclosed house for my family to live in, and it needs rebuilt in most all areas. I worked for contractors in college and build on houses as I have opportunity, but would not consider myself professional. I think the phrase "knowing enough to be dangerous" is accurate. Some things like drywall & plumbing are hard to mess up. Framing on the other hand has standards that should not be overlooked. I found this book at my local library, and am very impressed. This book is full of informative pictures and diagrams with clearly written instructions. It has diagrams to clearly label terminology, show where your wood belongs and why, and even nailing patterns. It covers walls, floors, roofs, doors & windows ... it quite literally shows how to frame an entire house. I really think a handyman without previous experience in building could teach themselves how to build a house from this book, but it has enough depth to make a contractor more professional. This is not your common "fix-it" book. If you need to do some framing, I highly recommend it as a reference.

Concise and quite helpful.

This is a great book and i would recommend it to anybody that is going to frame a project. all and all it covers everything

Very well laid out and easy to follow.
