I am new to the formalized aspects of marble collecting. Namely; terminology, histories & valuation. I had hoped that this book might fit the bill. I read the 3 preceeding reviews before making my decision. Even though they contradicted each other, I still chose to buy this book from . It turns out that the photographs are lacking, not so much were they 'blurry', as one reviewer wrote, but rather they seemed to be of low resolution. In many cases, especially if the marble was dark, the image was almost of no value. My biggest problem with this book however, is in how they chose to caption the photos. They are laid out in grids that are awkwardly separated from the corresponding captions. At worst, a photo is on one page & that page must be turned in order to read the caption. I found myself flipping back and forth. All in all, it was very confusing, so much so, that this book held little value for me. Next time I won't be so quick to discount what a reviewer has written.

I just started collecting marbles and I found this book very helpful and taugt me to reconize different marbles.

Good book, nice pictures and all marbles are shown actual size. Pricing though, was just given in ranges. A big range at that. You don't know if you have the $5.00 marble or the $50.00 marble. Need to find a better book for pricing.

misidentified pictures, misspellings, misinformation through the book.......not a good book for a beginner, was expecting more out of the reputation of the authors.
