All the other reviewers have so perfectly described the Fairy House Handbook: it's charming, inspiring, and a wonderful gift. I only wish I had bought a few more: It's now at the top of my list of gift ideas for young children. Liza Gardner Walsh knows her fairies. She's a wonderful guide, storyteller, and expert on all things related to the magical fairy world. Who knew that they love sweets? Lucky for us, Liza included a recipe for Faerie cookies in this lovely book.

My 6 year old daughter loves this book. Her friends and her are always foraging for fairy food and finding spots for fairy houses. Now they are starting to draw out their plans and use some of the pics as inspiration. Her little brother dug her a bush root to begin a portable house for us to take to Tenn when we move. She said that was her favorite gift for her birthday.

This is a wonderful book that is an easy read with children and accompanied by fabulous photographs. I have found my children pouring over the pages and planning what kind of fairy house they are going to work on next. It has sparked their imagination for what is possible when making one and i look forward to the many hours we will spend this summer finding materials at the beach, on hikes and around the house.A perfect gift & keepsake book!!

I purchased three books on fairy gardens as a starting point for two of my daughters and I work together to create fairy gardens in our yards next spring. I let each of them select one of the books for themselves. Neither gave this book a second glance after seeing the other two. As I looked at all three, I had to agree. Overall it is a good book with good photos and writing, but it visually appears text heavy due to the large size and vertical spacing of the text. Although I love to read and have made a successful living writing, for something that ultimately is as visual as a fairy garden, I am more attracted to the photos of potential materials, and sequential photos of various gardens being built with the text supporting the photos, rather than photos supporting the text as in this book. However, I have read it twice already and have made notes about things I really liked init.

When I was a little girl, I always looked for fairies in the garden. When my granddaughter told me that she and her best friend were building fairy houses, I immediately looked for a book that would be suitable. My granddaughter & I both read the book--it was wonderful, and I now have a fairy house under a hosta near my backyard shed. Thank you!

I read this book and passed it along to my daughter and her friends and my friends. We are now planning on a party get-together to build fairy houses. The glossary at the back of the book provided some new information also regarding the "good people". I also felt that the author did a good job dispelling many of the myths regarding fairies, etc. I think this is a fun and positive activity to do with anyone of any age. Thank you for taking the time write the book, Liza.

I got this for my niece, who is 6 and had wanted to build a fairy house when she came to visit me last summer (I live in the redwoods, so of course there are a lot of faeries around). I like the way it is written; the tone is good, the explanations are good. I was a little underwhelmed by some of the photos and the creativity of some of the houses. They do give good advice on materials to use and how to attract fairy folk.

I bought to have on my Kindles, too many blank pages, many small pictures. Maybe the hardcopy would be better.
