A beautiful book with many useful ideas. I've gone through the book and tried a few, all were easy to do and the explanations were great. Stephanie Rose also has a great website and is a great speaker... I saw her at the NW Flower and Garden Show. She has a great life story I encourage everyone to read about in this book.
A very fun book for any garden crafter! It's full of a wide variety of projects that are unusual and doable - there is something for everybody! Stephanie has a great eye for style and design and it shows through all throughout this new book. Make your own gifts and holiday decorations and a whole lot more! Garden Made will make a great gift too - it's fun to give and to get!
I love, love, love this book. I'm new to gardening and I appreciate the beautiful pictures and helpful text in the book, as well as the projects. There are so many fun projects to help make the most of the plants in your garden, or to enhance your garden's beauty. I trust Stephanie Rose's advice and tips from her experience as a Master Gardener. Can't wait for each season to come so I can make all of the projects!
There are garden craft items for every season. Directions are simply put. On some of the projects, one must obtain from their garden items a bit earlier than the official start of that season. If I can do it, so can any other "beginner" crafter.
I've been a fan of Stephanie's blog, Garden Therapy for years. She does an excellent job of infusing the garden with creativity and has inspired me countless times to make something new. Her book, Garden Made, is a beautiful extension of her blog. I love that Stephanie shares her personal story of healing and how she has used gardening as a way to recuperate, reconnect with nature. As a beginner gardener myself and someone who suffers from chronic pain, I've started to experience first hand how therapeutic and healing it can be to go outside and get dirty in the garden. This book is bursting with uniquely creative projects that will inspire you to get outside and explore your own backyard. Divided into four chapters (spring, summer, fall, winter), each project offers step-by-step photos and easy to follow instructions. Most materials are already growing in your backyard, or stored in your garden shed or kitchen pantry. I love that she often uses thrift store finds like picture frames, vintage teapots and even old chairs to repurpose into beautiful handmade projects that are truly unique.
I've been a fan of Stephanie's blog, Garden Therapy, for several years and this book offers even more of her unique crafty goodness. What sets Stephanie's work apart is a certain gracefulness. She takes items from nature and works with their character and beauty to create lasting crafts and decor we can enjoy and use in our homes (and gardens) for years to come. The projects range from simple and easy (twig garden markers, pressed leaf cards, gourd tea lights) to the knock-your-socks-off ideas like the succulent picture garden, living seasonal wreaths, and bug hotel. If you're looking for a quick pinecones and googly-eyes make-it-and-be-done crafts, this is not for you. If you just love nature and gardens and want to hold that beauty in your hands and work with it, I think you'll love the projects in this book.
