UPDATE: The correct book was sent out and I am now reading it. Very general but complete coverage of topics (intentionally so, due to wide range of target audience), will comment more after completion.I believe that this is an error, the book that was actually delivered to those of us that pre-ordered was another book by the same author consisting of a very thorough write up of description and projects for the Raspberry Pi 3. I didn't have an interest in getting that book and was really looking forward to utilizing the content for a SDR, so I hope that this mistake is fixed soon.
Update 4/10/2106 - delivered correct content. Material covered in book is excellent. Would recommend for anyone starting out with RTL-SDR dongles. --I believe that I received the wrong book. The book I got was RasPi3, but nothing about RTL-SDR. I would really like to read the author's RTL-SDR book, so I hope that this mistake is fixed soon.
The new standardThis guide should be the first stop for anyone without any radio knowledge. Lots of detail and diagrams, and the author has clearly done his research.It is stated on the Kindle Page that the focus is on performance and increasing reception, and this book delivers on that promise.Highly recommended not only for noobs but also for seasoned RTL-SDR veterans.
The author's blog on RTL SDR is top notch. In case you buy this book and get one about the Raspberry Pi instead, the author has stated that the situation will be corrected after pushes the corrected material. I''ll update my review to reflect when this is done.
It;s ok. Though if one were hard pressed on a budget,I would rather recommend the Hobby guide to RTL-SDR on for a similar price. Not to mention the fact thatMathworks is distributing a free book on RTL-SDR towork with Matlab/Simulink.
Not impressed with this book. Rather than an instructive approach this is really just a long rant by the author on the way the author does things, and why his way is best.
I believe this is a mistake, no mention of RTL-SDR in the book, in fact it is just a Raspberry Pi Guide, Author should check that is loading the correct book
