I really loved the creative use of eggs in the recipes in this book because it wasn't all about eggs. Each of the recipes contained eggs, and they were an important part of the success of the dish, but were not always the starring element. I've tried two or three of the recipes and been intrigued by many more of them.I generally enjoy this series of "101 Things To Do With..." cookbooks because they help the busy cook to think outside the box with common ingredients. The Eggs book is no exception.
My son has chickens and has so many extra eggs he has to give them away. This book can give many fast, easy recipes to solve this problem. Some egg recipes I made as a child and have lost track of, till now. Recipes here are the kind that can be used at any meal and even at deserts. Great little book!
I bought these cookbooks for a 14 year old young man that I am mentoring in the Big Brother program. Every young man needs to know how to cook before they leave their Mom's home. You can only eat at McDonald's so many times. Easy recipes with simple ingredients, with clear instruction on how to make each recipe.
All the the egg recipes are pretty basic. Some I'd seen before. Take the recipes as a good jumping off place. You may have change the spices to suit your tastes. There are several interesting? spice combination and choices by the author. Like cinnamon in savory egg dishes several times. I can imagine cinnamon in sweet egg dishes like Cinnamon bread custard, But in Scotch eggs??? and In another savory egg recipe cinnamon was paired with oregano. But still all and all a good little cookbook. The Oriental egg wraps from the cook book I tried this evening were good. I followed the authors instructions and I made the Oriental egg wrap as suggested,. I did though add 1/4 cup frozen peas and half a cup of sliced baby " "bella"portabelo mushrooms To make the egg wraps more filling and substantial.
The recipes are not very involved...but are tasty I like things that are fast and easy ...I is a good buy
Love this series, gave me a lot of great recipes and suggestions on how to use eggs, etc. I would recommend this to anyone.
