I am having a Love/I'm Totally Annoyed relationship with this book. I absolutely recommend this book but it loses a star for the frustrations.I find the book to be absolutely inspiring with a wealth of information. I love the the doll patterns that are included in the book which give the dolls wonderful figures so that they can wear anything. This book has challenged me and inspired me to try, and succeed, with new mediums such as the Dye-Na-Flow fabric dyes that you can just paint on to give the doll flesh tones...or whatever. The book inspired me to hand bead some of my dolls clothing, and really opened up my creativity. You will absolutely be inspired by this book and I do think this is a must have for anyone interested in the subject. As to the Dye-Na-Flow, Lumiere and Textile colors, I am in love with these. I couldn't find them anywhere in any store but has what they call Exciter packs that give you 9 different colors of the dyes or paints for $11-12. As Patti says in the book, they do not change the feel of the fabric. I did find that they change the stability of the fabric so you don't want to be ripping seams after the fabric has been treated. I ended up with a small slit in my fabric just inside the seam which I just stitched shut, but it's better to avoid this if possible. Now for my frustrations. One of my frustrations with this book is that, in my opinion, it is poorly organized, the table of contents is all but useless, and the book screams for an index. For instance, from the table of contents Chapter 6 is named 'Painting and Embellishments. The Chapter is actually the instructions for a doll named Magdalene, but you cannot lookup 'Magdalene' or any features that may have inspired you about Magdalene anywhere.
