The title is rather an over-sell. I don't consider code copied from others with no explanation anywhere close to an ultimate guide. And it is certainly not everything I need to know. The book starts off with a general description about AWS that is easily found on the internet. This is better described as "code ripped off from companies that claim to use it, but I can't explain what the code does".
You will not learn anything from this on Lambda that you cannot read in probably a couple of web pages that briefly go over it. No detail here on how things work, no description of the configuration files. Not even a single example of real code that runs on it or how the environment for that code is created. Take note that it is 38 pages, and probably nearly half of them are just dumps of some configuration files with no explanation on any of them, just some high level examples of what can be done. Book may have been worth the $9 if they just explained some of the configuration examples, and provided at least one sample of code.
The book lists a bunch of examples of how microservices can save companies money and provide value... however this book does not delve into what things do very well, and should not be used as an introduction to microservices as an architecture and why you should want to use microservices or the struggles that you'll face when migrating from a monolithic application. It's also way short, too short to be used as a reference and more on selling rather than the architecture. I expected a lot more out of an "Ultimate guide to serverless microservices"
Terrible book, title ("the ultimate guide") is stretching credibility. As other reviewers have described, it's mainly unexplained code ripped off from other sources. I don't think the author really understands the Internet or Lambda. Reads like a high-school student wrote it.More complete information can be found in the free AWS developer guides, YouTube, etc.
One star, because that's thew minumum allows. About 50% of bookj is just pages of code with a passing reference to its use.I suspect that every single Five Star review was paid for in some manner.
So many grammatical errors. Doesn't really cover anything in depth. Seems written by a beginning high school student. The AWS docs are more useful.
Would have been better if the author took time to explain with diagrams and step by step how tos..misspellings lessened credibility of subject matter knowledge
Nothing to gain from this unless you truly are clueless about AWS and want to hear how you can create your own Facebook...
