This review is based on the Kindle version of the Second Edition, published in 2013.The Gun Digest Assembly/Disassembly book series is a must have for any amateur gunsmith or enthusiast who works on guns in each book's topic. While the Shotguns, Centerfire Rifles, Rinfire, Pistols and Revolvers books are quite good and very comprehensive, with a good representation of the firearms involved, this particular edition is lacking in both the scope and coverage of the topic.For example, the Remington 870 shotgun is covered but the Mossberg 500 is left out. Since both are extremely commonly used in tactical situations by police and military units it would only seem logical that both were covered. By the same token, the book covers the Taurus Judge revolver, a unique handgun configured for both .45 Long Colt cartridges and .410 shotgun shells, but far from being considered "tactical" or being in common use in any tactical units. Similarly, the handgun section covers the AMT Backup and Wilson ADP pistols but leaves out all Glock pistols or Smith & Wesson M&P series, as well as any Sig Sauer pistols, all of which would be classed as the most common weapons in tactical use in the United States and overseas.The second issue with this book is that, with the exception of sub-machine guns, almost all of the firearms covered are duplicates of those covered in other books in the series. This means that, if you own the other books in the series, you do not have an overwhelming need for this one. Especially since, even for police armorers, fully automatic weapons are a very minor, or even nonexistent, part of your work load.The third issue with this book concerns just the Kindle edition as the full paperback versions don't have the problem.
