I bought this book after reading "Sunday Sauce" and yum, what a great decision! Bellino-Zwicke brings the goods to the table in "Segreto Italiano" with some great Italian and Italian American recipes. This is one of those rare Italian cookbooks where you feel like you've been invited to the author's Italian family table to enjoy Sunday dinner. Every recipe sounds amazing and I can't wait to try some of his versions of the classics.I'm trying the clams casino and zuppa di aglio tonight!
second book of his I had, this is a great recipe book but the fill-in information around the recipes makes it a enjoyable read-if you are like me and love to read cookbooks, you'll love this one, some recipes are a bit long and I won't try those, others are easy or worth the work, I will read, try and I am sure enjoy this book for a long, long time
I purchased this book for kindle. Its so good now I will get the hard copy just so I don't forget what was in here. If you buy this book alone and nothing else but a few secret ingredients or recipes it is worth it. There are 3 recipes you will never want to lose and make you thankful you have this book. Off to make the purchase now- very nice read and so easy.
I will used any excuse for a great glass of red wine, chocolate done, great steak done, but with wonderful Italian food and conversation I’ve got to go with the Chianti. Which I did several times while trying out a few of the receipes in this book LOL. Forgive any typo’s still experiencing the side of effect of a fabulous evening.We had four other couples over to Christian my new outdoor dining room that I have worked myself to a the bone with DIY projects and hours of online shopping. It was a grueling experience but I had made up my mind these were the receipes I would serve the for the first dinner and Author Daniel Bellino-Zwicke didn’t disappoint.The pasta was wonderful, the salad fresh and crisp I even made the dressing it was incredible when the flavors hit your taste buds, a little garlic bread and of course the Chianti. Conversation flowed, laughs followed the mood was excellent which I believe is a direct result of the wonder food and of course . . . The Chianti.Excellent book with great tips many of which I had never heard. Okay a moment of honest all of them were original and informative. I feel like not only do I know a little more about Italian cooking but I understand the Traditional Italian Dinner better. Giving this a five star and don’t hesitate invite friends, make sauce, create the pasta and of course all together now “don’t forget the Chianti.”
There is something very authentic about this book and the author Daniel Bellino-Zwicke. Entertainingly straight-forward and real, this cookbook has an awesome Italian American vibe throughout from cover to cover. Use this cookbook to create a dining experience that will make spectacular memories of comfort and deliciousness!Italian and Italian-American cuisine is one of my favorites and it is just a blast trying out these rocking recipes in my own kitchen. These really are some secrets from the masters because they are uniquely wonderful – just created the Eggplant Caponata to the delight of my friends and family!If you love Italian American food and like to cook and impress your Soprano’s fans, then pick up this book now!
This is a great cookbook. I'm a pro and have more cookbooks than any one person needs in several lifetimes. As such, many times I seldom find anything really unique and/or new and am happy if I find a few new ideas or recipes in any new cookbook. This cookbook is fabulous with so many recipes I want to try!Well edited and written in a comfortable conversational style- it's like hanging around the kitchen swapping recipes with a fellow food person, love that. You can almost smell the food cooking.Gotta go and make some "gravy"
Not a bad little cookbook, but could have used the services of a good editor. Ingredients are often repeated. No problem for an experienced cook, but would be very confusing for a beginner. There, their, they're; spelling is important. So is punctuation. The book could use both more carefully
