Good overall treatment of the topics, for both the RPi and Arduino. More useful projects with libraries available from author's website. A good primer for those wanting to get their feet wet on both platforms.

Ever since I decided to delve into the many fun aspects of the Raspberry Pi, I decided to buy this book in order to take a bigger leap forward: Home automation. I have already been familiarized with this wonderful little board and have used it to make the egg bot (a brilliant easter egg auto designer) and a Raspberry Jolt (an awesome little toy that drives around my office and shoots Nerf bullets at people). Since then I’ve decided to commit to home automation but needed to know exactly how to get it done. This guide, succinctly put, has provided everything I need for the task. The writing is dense and without filler, the training style is straightforward and easy to comprehend, and the illustrations are top notch. From building and configuration to connecting your hub to cloud services, this manual has all the elements necessary for anyone to complete the home automation project. I really enjoyed the material on being able to access the project from anywhere and having the ability to send twitter alerts was just icing on the cake. In the end, if anyone is looking for the perfect guide to home automation with the Raspberry Pi, you can’t do any better than this one. I’m sure it’s going to stay in my library for a long time and will be referenced frequently without a doubt.

This book provides many valuable information on using raspberry pie and the author is a qualified personnel who has a PhD in microelectronics. The author has a thorough knowledge on raspberry pie and arduino boards. Many house automation projects are described clearly in this book. The author describes how to use raspberry pi as a house automation hub and it is very useful. Author has described how to use this as a media center, control of lamps and many other projects which comes in highly useful and informative.

Very difficult to follow. Directions are not clear and either incomplete or wrong for the particular step. In other instances the author is not specific as to the method of accomplishing a task. Author should have given this to a novice to see if it is possible to follow it.

There's good info in there but hard to follow at times. One of the installs "npm install express arest jade" I could not make work. Not sure if the book is out dated with pi/software that might have updated since the book was written.

Great how-to book! There are a few grammatical errors but who cares when you finally learn how all the code you've been hearing about works!
