This book was almost a complete waste of my time. All of the projects are patternless, so if you want to make any of the items in the book you had better figure it out yourself. The skimpy directions given do not include stitch counts, measurements, graphs or yardage required. Example, for the cardigan, (which is sleeveless) you need 3 balls of bulky yarn. Never mind the size of the sweater, or how many yards in the skein, you just need three. They do tell you what size hook (in millimeters) you should use, but no gauge. Also, a third of the words were either misspelled or misused. The only reason I gave it one star, is because I did see one project that I think would be neat to make and have never seen before. Too bad there wasn't a pattern.
Amanda Lee's Modern Crochet for Women will give you 19 amazing crochet projects that any newbie can learn how to make. The instructions and the pictures are there to serves as a guide for everyone to successfully learn how to crochet even if it's your first time to hold a crochet hooks.
This book is not worth getting even for free! There are a scant few pictures and no patterns or directions whatsoever! The author just basically gives a list of projects you can do. You can find everything and more in a five minute search on the internet.
I did not find this book helpful at all. I thought it would have more directions to match the pictures.
There are such general directions that this is useless. I love the photos but no one could crochet anything using this book. TOTAL WASTE.
