I work in a store and teach embroidery & digitizing, this is absolutely THE BEST primer for people just starting out in machine embroidery, and it's a great reference manual for everyone else. It is not machine-specific, so no matter what you've got, you will find information in here to help you out. This is THE book I always recommend to newbies!

I was new to machine embroidery and I happened to see this particular book lying on the store owners sewing desk. I browsed through it and was immediately hooked! I had to have my own copy. It has everything you could possibly need to know about machine embroidery. I never did go back and do the classes for my machine...it was all in this book and then some! The extra CD was a nice touch to the lessons!

This is a great book for a beginner, as I am, in machine embroidery to start building their library of machine embroidery books on. It provides good concise information for starting this craft in easy understandable terms. It covers a wide variety of the subjects that one needs to know in order to start producing embroidered products. It provides many helpful hints, good pictures, a variety of projects, and a resource section, not to mention the free design CD. It is one of the few books I have bought that delivers what it promises and at a very reasonable price. I have found something useful on just about every page. I highly recommend it.

I found this book to be of great help for all aspects of machine embroidery. I also appreciated the enclosed CD of designs. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is new to the art of machine embroidery.

This book is great for the machine embroidery beginner. It touches on every subject, from embroidery equipment to digitizing your own designs. The information is easy to understand, instructions clear and pictures are helpful. It covers a lot of subjects in the 144 pages--so not a lot of room for detail on each -- but enough to get your started. There is also a lot of nice sample projects to complete and a great chapter on troubleshooting. There was a CD-rom included with 6 Cactus Punch Designs ($... value?). Don't buy it JUST for the designs.

This book is a must for anyone who is doing machine embroidery. The author covers all areas of machine embroidery - needles, thread, programs, stabilizers and other gadgets. The book relates what designs work best with which fabrics and how those fabrics need stabilized. Insturctions for multiple hooping are given. She gives instructions for 20 projects and includes a section of inspiring ideas. A CD comes with the book from Cactus Punch with 6 designs. A must have for beginners and old pros too.

I am new to the world of machine embroidery, altho' I've been sewing for 35 yrs. I was hesitant to begin, knowing there were lots of variables that needed to come together to make successful designs, and I didn't want to ruin anything. This is a great book if you are just starting out, and probably a great reference even if you are not. All the information you could want regarding types of materials, tools, and techniques is here. I was even having trouble when I was practicing a design I had downloaded, and this book helped me figure out what I needed to do to make it work.

Finally a solid machine embroidery resource book is now available for the home embroiderer! This is a must-have reference guide that covers every single aspect of machine embroidery. Jeanine Twigg does an stand-up job of covering machine essentials, hooping techniques, stabilizer choices, embroidery threads, needles, and troubleshooting. The photos are well-done, the material is simple, not overly complicated or complex, and every topic is covered. The added bonus: A CD with 6 embroidery motifs designed by Linda Goodall of Cactus Punch! I would highly recommend this book for every beginning machine embroiderer to have and keep right next to their embroidery machine. An excellent investment!
