I loved this book. It's a home run for mouthwatering recipes that are truly easy to scale for small or large events. There are tasty unique recipes like vegan, hazelnut-cream cheese, and chocolate bacon brownies. The photography is beautiful! For the ftime ever I've been able to duplicate the end product from a cookbook! That says more about this book's recipies than my baking prowess. I am really enjoying all the varieties. The "Unexpected" chapter is my fave so far; however, "Halfway Healthy" and "Foreign Accents" chapters are close behind. This is my new "buy for a friend" book. Well done Fat Witch Bakery!
I loved Pat Helding's first book,Fat Witch Brownies:Brownies,Blondies,and Bars from New York's Legendary Fat Witch Bakery,I might even love her second book even more. The recipes are easy to follow,great photos as a guide to what the brownies should look like,and all the recipes I made were delicious. It's fun to have so many mouth watering offerings for a bake sale,kids party,or just anytime you need to bake something special. Thank you Pat and Fat Witch Bakery for another winner!
Fat Witch Bake Sale is a baking cookbook that's filled with diverse recipes, tips on how to make the best baked goods possible, and advice on how to have a great and successful bake sale for your organization or cause. While I have no immediate plans to hold a bake sale (and requested this book for the recipes), there was still information that I found useful and mentally stored away for future reference.This book is divided into categories such as healthy, vegan, and chocolate goodness. This makes it easy to locate particular recipes at any given time, which was a nice bonus. That being said, quite a few of these sections weren't ones that I'd utilize often. While I totally agree that gluten free, vegan, and healthy treats are a great bonus item to have at a bake sale to make sure that everyone is a potential customer for your sale. However personally, because I have no gluten allergy or dairy aversions, I'm not super-likely to make these recipes on the daily basis. They totally fill a need for this book though.There were pictures for almost every (if not every) recipe included which is a huge plus to me. I like knowing what I'm supposed to be aiming for, at least aesthetically. The directions were easy to understand and well written, so whether you're a seasoned baker or a beginner, the recipes are easily approachable.Some of the recipes I most look forward to trying are Apricot-Almond-Rosemary Bars, Stout Gingerbread, and Cayenne-Coffee Brownies. I think this collection has a recipe for everyone and a bunch of tips for hosting your own bake sale, whether you're a beginner or a master. This lovely cookbook is filled with beautiful mouthwatering photos of incredibly delicious looking sweet treats and well written, easy to follow recipes. The recipes fall into a variety of categories including Halfway healthy - and I want to make those sweet potato brownies, gluten free, vegan, and unexpected - which includes bacon brownies. Totally fabulous and I want to just eat all of these wonderful treats! I received this book free to review from Netgalley and I highly recommend it.
I liked her previous cookbook better but there are still some great looking recipes in this book. There just aren't as many that made me want to make them immediately.
Recipes are easy to follow, and results are good.
My only issue was, they left it to bounce around in a large box with another heavy item. The spine is damaged. But im not sending it back. Still useable. Just not bookshelf pretty lol
Chock full of recipes for interesting and unique treats. Beautifully photographed. Enjoyed the clever and folksy accompanying narrative.
