This is the third book in a series of 5. General John Pitman 1842 - 1933 was a career Ordinance Officer and drew detailed pictures of firearms and ammunition that he saw in his work. This volume was about the 45 caliber Carbines, rifles, and ammunition. It has very good original information that would not have been known if this series of books had not been published almost 60 years after General Pitman's death. The .45 Caliber rifles, carbines and Ammunition were primary during the late nineteenth century 1873- the Spanish American War 1898 and later .
