A fine follow-up to Gasts previoius two books. The improvements and differences in the new standard are very well covered.Some people have complained that he makes too many references to his previous two works, but given the subject matter, its really necessary if you want to understand it IN DEPTH - unless you are willing to dissect the 1400+ pages of the previous IEEE 802.11 standards.There are really only a few references that cover some of the more esoteric parts of the previous standards. If you can handle not knowing everything down to the absolute lowest bit level, and all you need are the essential parts of "ac", this book is more than adequate. I suggest you get this book.
I have a customer that was interested in upgrading to AC immediately. This book provided some great insight into wireless AC and the expected roll out of devices that will be able to utilize the technology. With this solid information i was able to provide my customer a clear and accurate assessment of Wireless AC vs Wireless N and set the appropriate expectations.
Great book. If you need to understand 11ac, this is a great bridge for helping to understand the amendment. I have had to learn the technology and be able to teach it to other people. Reading Matthew's book helped immensely when trying to interpret the official document.
I gave this book 5 stars because this book gives me what I need to be comfortable with the new 802.11ac specification.After all the new specifications in 802.11n, I was nervous about delving into the new 802.11ac specs. Matthew sets the stage by explaining that 802.11ac is more evolutionary than revolutionary. He goes on to explain the new specs in a way that does make them seem evolutionary. He also breaks down every new packet field and every field whose usage has been updated. His explanation and examples of planning the new wider channels is clear and concise. That section is pure gold for anyone embarking on channel planning an 802.11ac WLAN!A great knowledge foundation for what is sure to become the next popular WLAN standard. I recommend this book for anyone who is working with WLANs today.
Good fundamental description of 11ac but seem a little dated. Needs a refresh to match current status of technology.
