There is a brand of jerky I really like but it cost so much and this book help me to get the flavors Iove at half the cost so what could be better them that.
I guess everybody's ideas of "Greatest Recipes of All Time" differ widely. Of what I saw a few were worthwhile but most aren't too terribly exciting or even innovative.Of those recipes I was interested in, I can say they were well written. In my books, that's highly praiseworthy as many do not write recipes well and most editors couldn't spot a poorly written recipe if it was propped up on their desk leaning against their coffee cup, circled in red ink.I will likely use one or possibly two idea from here, but that's a far very from the "50 Greatest" supposedly supplied here.
I guess my tastes just do not measure up to other folks. I like my stuff simple as I am a simple meat and potatoes kinda guy. Jerky, to me, ought to be pretty basic and not have spices and flavoring names that I can't even pronounce. Some of these recipes will mask the taste of the meat and will actually give one bad breath, not a good thing when you are already a heavy coffee drinker all day to add garlic and onions to the mix when you are not near a tooth brush or tooth paste. But this is a good book of recipes for connoisseurs of fine jerky. Go for it if you have exotic tastes.
Some interesting recipes. Some look very good. Some... not so much. Had buffalo recipes but no cabarito - goat. Goat is very popular in the southwest.Author seriously needs a proofreader.
Try these recipes, wonderful combination of spices, I've been making Jerky for years but never thought of some of these combinations.
