I love all things jewelry and I love all things creative.When I received this book, I was thrilled to discover shrink plastic, something I missed out on the first time it was popular (in the form of shrinky dinks).I found that the greatest appeal of this book, Shrink, Shrank, Shrunk! by Kathy Sheldon, for me, is that there is nothing which is not pretty here, and nothing which is not innovative and colorful here. Any jewelry designer who loves any sort of specific technique in particular (for example: wire wrapping, or using chain. or hanging charms on leather cord, or mixed media, or beading--you name it!)will find that he or she can apply her preferred technique in tandem with shrink plastic. It is so cool and fun!Read the introduction by the author and learn the origins of the newer art of making stylish shrink plastic jewelry.Read the basics to understand completely the types of plastic, how to work with them, how to create "a basic shrink plastic kit" and what materials are handy to have around. Be reassured that it is safe.Kathy Sheldon has gathered a number of designers to share their amazing projects with you.My absolute favorite, "Paper Plane Ride Necklace" by Stasia Burrington, is so celebratory of the art of shrink plastic it seems to personify the artistic heights to which one can fly when taking this technique and embracing it. I would wear this proudly anywhere. I can, too, thanks to the template available to assist me when I make it!Ah, beauty. My other favorite is a mood piece which had been double layered by baking the plastic twice and fusing it together. It is eassssssy. But it is so preeeeeeeeeeeeeetty!
