This book provides a great deal of information in a readable, easy-to-follow format. However, the best thing about this volume is the colour photographs. The huge number of beautiful pieces on display in this book is very impressive and the quality of the examples of each style highlighted is wonderful. This is a terrific guide for the antique/vintage jewelry enthusiast and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I am so happy to offer a review of Jeanenne Bell's latest edition of what I have always said is the "Bible" for any vintage jewelry enthusiast! I am the proud owner of all the editions of this wonderful book and have seen a wonderful progression from black and white photos to beautiful color pics in this latest edition. Jeanenne is one of the foremost authorities in this field and is so talented in passing on her vast knowledge to those of us who have collected for many, many years as well as to the novice! This book is highly recommended to all who love jewelry and the history behind the styles. And on a personal note, may I say that having had the distinct privilege of meeting the author at one of our Vintage Fashion and Costume Jewelry Club conventions a few years back, I can truly say that she is just as nice as she seems to be on the Antiques Roadshow! Keep up the good work, Jeanenne!

"Answers To Questions About Old Jewelry" is the most helpful book available for everyone interested in antique jewelry. Novices and experts all appreciate the clear historical background, descriptions of styles, and numerous photographs. This latest edition includes up-to-date pricing data that allows anyone to discover just how valuable their jewelry really is. I highly recommend this book!

I downloaded this book on my Kindle and then transferred it to my i-pad. Although I found the content and pictures good, my enjoyment of them was hampered by the chaotic presentation (as seen on the i-pad). Repeated paragraphs. Illogical sequences of pictures. Lots of typos. Frankly, a disgrace. I don't know whether this is what the print edition is like, but the e-version comes across as having been slung together any old way.

I was expecting a normal collector guide type of book but was pleasantly surprised to find this book to be of a much higher quality. The paper is thick and not the basic gloss thin sheets in similar books. The plethora of color photos are the amazing part- they are not small thumbnails, but extremely large and detailed for the format. The book is large (slightly larger than a regular 8.5 x 11" paper) and the pages with photos (that is most of the book) have 4 or less on a page! That makes them around 3-4" color photos that are extremely enlarged and highly detailed- like what you would expect from a Sotheby's auction catalogue or a museum coffee table art book to showcase the piece with the highest possible clarity. The text part is informative, but if you are into jewelry collecting, it is the photos that make this book a definite must-have because you feel like you already own the piece just by looking at it! Great price too for over 400 pages of jewelry art!

I have not read all of the book as of yet but so far the book is an excellent history on descriptions of fashion, inventions, and other historical events that happened during the various eras that separate the different styles of jewelry. So far there have been some pictures but not details on describing each picture on how that particular piece is identified for that era in which it was made.So as of now I don't know if my rating would be fair.

With some wonderful color photos you can see what old jewelry has to offer, being old does not mean being boring by far, this book gives some fair amounts jewelry that you may have sitting in some box. The question and answers help the new and old collectors alike

This is a wonderful reference or resource book that is a "must have" for anyone that collects, buys, and/or sells jewelry. The contents flow well from subject to subject. Photographs, illustrations, and drawings are positioned with written content making this a rare contribution to the vast field of the history of jewelry. Whether a novice or an expert, this book will prove to be a valuable resource. There are a few versions of this book so make sure you purchase the latest edition.
