A very thorough treatment of the use and practice of rug hooking in Pennsylvania, with particular attention paid to the individuals who practiced it in its early days and to the various types of patterns used. This book was published as an accompaniment to a 2004 exhibition of hooked and handsewn rugs of Pa., photos of which also appear in the book. The book includes many photos of these rugs and their makers. A worthwhile purchase for those interested in the practice of this craft in its early days in the eastern U.S.
This book has some of the most beautiful rugs. It chronicles the journey of PA rugmakers and their fabulous works. Recommended.
Another great book for my library. As a teacher of traditional rug hooking I like to provide my students with good visual aids. It is always interesting to see what subject matter appealed to rug hookers in various parts of the country.
If you love rug hooking, and particularly early hooked rugs, you will love this book. It is well written and beautifully illustrated with early hooked rugs. I've never tire of looking at these wonderful rugs. This book would be a great addition to anyone's hooked rug library.
