My mother bought this book for my son, to start a new family tradition. Every Christmas, my mother would read me the Poky Little Puppy and now she reads this book to her Grandson.It is cute to see what trouble the puppies and The Poky Little Puppy get into while trying to have a good Christmas. I would really recommend getting this book, plus the other Poky Little puppy book, a great collection to have.
I first bought this book for my sons about 39 years ago for one of their early Christmas gifts. I still have the worn out copy of the book. I will be giving some of my grandchildren copies of this book this year. My boys loved Poky Little Puppy and it meant so much to us. The story remains as good as ever. The illustrations are as wonderful. It is just a precious story that I cherish as I do the memory of that Christmas with my sons. This is an absolute keeper as far as I am concerned. I love it.
The Poky Little Puppy's First Christmas is a Little Golden Book that teaches a great big lesson about the spirit of Christmas and selfless acts!It's wonderfully written, adorably illustrated and any child (or adult) who reads it will come away with a wonderful, warm feeling. This is, indeed, a very special book to share with the children in your life.
Great little golden book! The story is cute! It is not outdated! Of course the pages are easy to tear so of course you have to watch little ones, but the little ones really enjoy the story!

This is a sweet story about giving. My son loved it. We read it every day during Advent, and he even decided unprompted after reading it a few times that he wanted to pick out one of his toys to give to someone else. He just turned 3, so I thought that was really sweet. Definitely the kind of thing you want to get out of a children's book --a real lesson that sticks and means something.
This is such an adorable little story of Poky puppy's first Christmas. He's such a cute little dog, always looking for an adventure. The book has a good message. The only criticism I would give is that Christmas seems kind of glossed over. There's a good bit that happens leading up to Christmas day but the actual day of Christmas only gets a couple of pages. But the story is so cute with a good message for kids. I bought this for my nephew for his first Christmas and I'm sure that his older brother will be reading it to him until he's old enough to read it himself.
Not nearly as cute as the other Poky Puppy books but he liked that there was a holiday story about the PP. The book itself is poorly made, everything is a bit off center. The cover is oddly hard to open more than halfway and the pages don't turn easily so it was a little frustrating. I don't think it will be read more than a couple times.
